Thank you, Danielle. I have not thought much about the limitations of wealth. So your story was fascinating and helpful. When we see wealthy people, such as the Koch brothers
who use their wealth for their own gain, we forget that at least some of the super rich
do see its limitations and some even strive to use it for social good. Steve Jobs comes to mind… -
Wealthy people are just people, after all. Some are fine, upstanding citizens; others are, well, somewhat less than fine, upstanding citizens. We should not judge anyone because of their wealth, just as we should not judge anyone because they are poor. As MLK said, we should judge people only by the “content of their character”. And maybe even then we should cut them some slack, because a person’s character is greatly influenced by the people they live with/around. That is a reason that we should always set a good example for
the young — they will do as they see us do.
